In case you are using an external monitor and you get a no signal message from your computer. You can reset the ports via the following method:
1. Shutdown the computer
2. Hold down the shift-control-option and power button simultaneously for a second or two.
3. Hit the power button to start the computer.
If all goes well the thunderbolt port should now be working.
